Last weekend was very eventful. On Saturday morning I had a rhythmic gymnastics competition (the most important of the year) and then with my best friend, Lena we hurried to the Central European Fashion Days to catch three Hungarian designers, Napsugar Von Bittera’s, Áeron’s and NUBU’s shows. Between two shows we spent our time in the backstage chatting with models and the event organizers or waiting for our ordered pizza at the entrance. About this whole event I’m planning to write two more posts, one with the backstage pics (those are the best) and one about the Gombold Újra! competition’s final.

1. NAPSUGAR VON BITTERA

Nekem valahogy olyan érzésem volt, hogy miután ő már mutatott be kollekciót Londonban és a többi nagy divatvárosban, mintha ezt a közép-európai bemutatót kicsit félvállról vette volna. Az ő lookbook képeit, kollekcióleírásait nem lehetett megtalálni a sajtónak szánt vászontáskában, pedig minden más magyar tervezőé ott volt. Ráadásul én a kollekciótól sem voltam úgy elájulva, mint az eddigiektől, mivel az eddig képviselt, elegáns, kifinomult városi nő képét, a ‘Fuck Yeah’ feliratú darabok szerintem közönségessé tették. A kiegészítői érdekesek voltak, tetszettek, úgy mint a laza, lukacsos luxusbőr darabok is. Én még elég sokat látok a lézervágott bőrben és a vele készített interjúból az jött le hogy a tervező is, úgyhogy szerintem kár volt behozni ezt a sportosabb, lazábbnak szánt elemet. Az angol erre azt mondaná, hogy túlságosan ‘trying too hard’.

 I had a feeling that after showing her collections in London and in other big fashion cities, this central european fashion show wasn’t so important for her and she took it a bit lightly and careless. I couldn’t find her lookbook photos and collection descriptions in the canvas bag for press like all other designers’. Also I was not as impressed by this new collection as I was by the former ones. I think that with writing ‘Fuck Yeah’ on her clothes she pulls down her label to an ordinary level, and I really don’t know why because her luxury leather jackets and dresses simbolize the stylish, sophisticated but cool urban woman. I think there’s much more innovation in this laser cut leather line, and from the interview I made with her, she looked like she sees and wants to continue this line too, so I can’t understand why she made this collection this sporty, loose-looking and extra ordinary. It’s just too much, trying too hard.

2. ÁERON

Áron Eszter a jövő nyarat abszolút földszínekben képzeli el, érdekes printekkel tarkítva. Az egyik elsők között felvonuló ruhán volt egy nagyon érdekes részlet, ami feltűnt, mégpedig az elől-hátul rengeteg értelmetlen díszzseb. Szerintem nagyon érdekes volt a csípő körül végighúzódó zsebsor, kicsit sajnáltam hogy ez nem köszönt vissza több darabon is. Viszont a ruhák lengesége, -az egyik fő fazon, egyébkén a laza nadrág volt- színvilága elrepített minket a Skandináv tájakhoz, a ruhákon keresztül látni lehetett a víz tisztaságát, a dzsungel zöldből pedig én a mocsárra asszociáltam míg a többi pasztell színből inkább a homokra, sziklákra. Minden nagyon laza volt, nem túltervezett, szolid smink, szélfútta haj, nekem ez tetszett benne a legjobban.

Eszter Áron absolutey imagines  next summer in earth-colors interspersed with  interesting prints. On one of the first models there was a dress which had many useless decoration pockets around the waist-part. I really liked this element of the collection so I was a bit disappointed when I didn’t see it on other pieces. But the other dresses, loose pants and shorts were supercool too, so they made up for it. They totally flew us to the Skandinavian mountains and seasides. We could see the water waveing on the dresses, from the jungle color, the forests and marshes, and from the pastel colors I associated to the sand and the rocks. Everything was loose, not too much, solid make-up, windblown hair. You could feel the wind sweeping on the catwalk by the dresses.

3. NUBU

A NUBU kollekciója volt a kedvencünk az összes közül, nagyon érdekesek voltak a nyírfa részletek a cipőkön, táskákon és a ruhákon is. Érdekes volt a természetes anyagok, mint a fa, len, bőr, selyem keveredése a vízlepergető anyagokkal. Tetszettek a semmibe tartó lazán megkötött kendők, amik a földet söpörték ezzel kicsit hippi stílust vive a modern városi nő szettjébe, ruhatárába. Különlegesek voltak az engem barlangrajzokra emlékeztető grafikák (bár lehet hogy csak túl sok törit tanultam mostanában)  és az elfolyt festékre emlékeztető printek. Laza, sportos, mégsem közönséges nyári lenge darabok voltak, amiket bármikor bárhová fel lehet venni ha az ízléses, egyedi nőt akarjuk megtestesíteni.

Nubu’s collection was our favorite from all, we especially liked the walnut wood details on the clothes, shoes and accessories. It was an interesting match how they combined the natural materials, like silk, wood, linen, leather with the waterproof fabric. I liked the loose cloths falling from your waist and sweaping up the ground. This made the urban woman’s outfit a bit hippi styled . The graphics reminded me of cave drawings, but maybe just because I wrote a test yesterday about the prehistory and the cavemen. All were loose, sporty but not ordinary summer pieces which you can wear for any event. They’ll see the stylish, unique woman in you.

Mikor kezdett érdekelni a jelmeztervezés világa?

Elég korán felfedeztem magamnak a tervezés csodáit, részben azért, mert nagymamám szabó volt, és kiskoromban sokszor odaültem mellé miközben ő a varrógépen dolgozott. Persze az sem hátrány, hogy szerencsére a családomban már generációk óta megtalálhatóak a művészi és alkotói gének, mivel nagyapám festő és szobrászművész volt, édesapám pedig építészmérnök.

A jelmeztervezői múltadból szoktál inspirációt meríteni egy-egy új kollekció megalkotásakor?

Részben igen, sokat segít a mindennapi gondolkozásban az a rengeteg tudás és szakmai tapasztalat, amit „belém vertek” a tervezői tanulmányaim alatt. Viszont számomra a sport szeretetem az, ami igazán inspiráló! Minden reggel korán felkelek (7-kor) és kimegyek a Margit-szigetre futni. Ekkor igazán szabadnak és teljesnek érzem magamat, és ebben a relaxált és nyugodt állapotomban hirtelen megjelennek a legkülönbözőbb kreatív ötletek a cég jövőjét és a ruháimat illetően. A sok gondolatot persze le kell szűrni és átrágni, de legalább mindig van miből válogatni.

Úgy tudom szanszkrit és ógörög nyelveket is tanultál. Ezek a kultúrák szoktak inspirálni?

Hogyne! Nagy rajongója vagyok a régi, letűnt, misztikus kultúráknak, egész életemben az ősi tudást keresem, hogy megértsem a világ rejtélyeit. A kollekcióimban a legtöbb darab bőrből készül, mivel számomra a bőr reprezentálja a természetet. Ez az anyag már ősidők óta megtalálható a természetben, és gépek nem képesek ezt szintetikus úton előállítani. Mivel én egy igen ellentmondásos személyiséggel rendelkezem, nem meglepő, hogy a másik véglet is legalább ennyire érdekel: a tudomány világa. Hobbim a jövőkutatás, és küldetésemnek érzem azt, hogy a technológiai innovációt művészi szintre emeljem.

Mi az a visszatérő forma/szín/motívum, ami minden kollekciódban jelen van?

Talán az innovációt és a lézervágást tudnám kiemelni, mint két állandó jelző, illetve a bőrdzsekijeink is megtalálhatóak minden kollekcióban, ezek az ’image’ darabjaink, a DNS-ünk! J Szerintem a kitörés kulcsa a képesség a folyamatos megújulásra, illetve a technológiai fejlődésben való szerves részvétel.

Hogyan készül a lézervágott bőr? Csak te használsz ilyen technikát?

A lézervágott bőrt egy nagyméretű és gyors sebességű speciális lézervágó gép készíti. Ilyen gép sajnos Magyarországon nincs, én Olaszországban készíttetem a bőröket. Nem csak én használom ezt a technikát, sőt! Ahol én vágatok, ugyanott készíti a terméket Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh, Gucci, Löewe és még sokan mások, mivel ott a legprofesszionálisabbak a gépek és a szakemberek.

A kollekciót, amit Londonban is bemutattál mi inspirálta?

Azt a kollekciót a 21. századi modern ember bűnei inspirálták, melyek megtalálhatóak a Bibliában is. Ezek a bujaság, irigység, torkosság, harag, büszkeség, kapzsiság, lustaság, pazarlás, gondatlanság, vágy, hatalom, felelőtlenség és a megtévesztés. Ezek a bűnök jelennek meg a grafikai motívumokon, melyek alapján aztán lézervágás készül belőlük, és egy homogén szitázott felület jön létre. Ha jobban megnézed a lézervágott ruhák mintáit ebben a kollekcióban, felfedezheted a hamburgert, az öklöt, a szerencsejátékot és még sok másik apró ikont, melyek a bűnöket reprezentálják. J

Itthon mikor lesz bemutatód?

A közeljövőben nem tervezek itthonra bemutatót, inkább Amerika és Párizs felé veszem az irányt, de ha lesz, akkor neked garantálok egy helyet az első sorban!

Milyen tanácsokat adnál egy pályakezdő fiatalnak, aki divattervező szeretne lenni?

Ez egy igen nehéz és vért izzasztó szakma, sok türelmet és alázatosságot kíván. Csak az vágjon bele, akinek óriási küldetéstudata van, és nem sajnálja a hosszú és fárasztó órákat a varrógépek mellett, a ceruzák és papírok között!

Hordod a saját ruháidat?

Mivel én vagyok az első számú tesztelő ember, aki teszteli a prototípusokat, egyértelműen hordom a ruháimat! Abban kelek, abban fekszem!

És milyen más kedvenceid vannak?

Ez egy nehéz kérdés, és inkább magáért a művészetért rajongok, nem külön személyekért. De ha már nagyon mondani kell valakit, Ali G az egyik kedvencem, ugyanolyan elmebeteg mint én, és Spongebob Squarepants-et is imádom!

A Die Hard 5-ben te tervezted Bruce Willis fiát alakító színész bőrdzsekijét. Esetleg férfikollekció lesz majd?

Az elmúlt néhány évben a divat megszállottan ontotta magából az androgün esztétikát, a bemutatókon nőknek öltözött férfiakat láttunk, és fordítva. Viszont most sok tervező egy egész unisex kollekciót dob a piacra, melyet mindkét nem egyaránt viselhet. Ez egy friss, új megközelítés, miszerint a divat inkább az önkifejezésről és a művészetről szól, mintsem a nemek közti hatalmi harcokról és egyenlőtlenségről. Tervezek én is egy unisex kollekciót piacra dobni, talán 2015-ben, ki tudja, ez még a jövő zenéje!

 Vannak más terveid is a jövőre nézve?

Terveim között szerepel egy intelligens, bionikus életérzést keltő, érző bőrdzseki megalkotása, ami szerethető és a társunk a mindennapokban. Ezzel az a célom, hogy egy high-end-fashion luxus ruházati cikket kombináljak a legújabb technológiával, jelen esetben ez mobil technológia, így egy applikáció segítségével majd a mobilodról fogod tudni beállítani a kabátod hőfokát! Ennek az applikációnak a segítségével láthatjuk, hogy éppen milyen komfort zónában vagyunk, és így a ruha elektronikai rendszere ezt folyamatosan szabályozni tudja a kabátot. Reggel, ha rossz idő van, a program javasolni tudja a melegebb ruhadarab viseletet és annak hőfokát, hűvösebb idő esetén előmelegíti a kabát hőfokát.

When did you get interested in the world of designing costumes?

I discovered the beauties of design in my early years, because my grandma was a tailor and I used to sit beside her while she was sewing.  It’s also not a disadvantage that my family has an artistic, creative line up to many generations. My grandpa was a painter and sculptor and my dad is an architect.

Do you gather inspiration from your costume designer past when you design a collection?

Partly yes, because the knowledge and the professional experience that I learnt in my studies helps me a lot, but what inspires me a lot is my love for sports  ! I get up every day at 7 a.m. and I go to run to the Margaret Island. This is the time when I feel really free and complete. In the relaxated and calm mood suddenly the most exraordinary ideas appear of my company’s future and the clothes. Of course I need to think over these thoughts many times, but at least I always have something to start with.
I heard that you had learnt Sanskrit and Ancient Greek languages too. Do these cultures inspire you?
Of course! I’m a big fan of the old, bygone, mysterious cultures, all my life I am looking for the ancient knowledge to understand the world’s mysteries, secrets. In my collections most of the pieces are made from leather because for me leather represents nature. This material was used in the ancient times too and we aren’t able to make it in a synthetic way. I have a controversial personality so I am really interested in the other extreme, modern technology. My hobby is futurology and I feel my mission is to bring the innovation of technology to artistic level.

What’s that symbolic item/color/pattern that appears in every collection?

Maybe the innovation and the laser cuts are the two permanent markers. Also our leather jackets, because those are our image pieces, our DNA! I think the key to break out is the never ending innovation and to take part in the development of technology.

How is a laser-cut leather? Only you use this technology?

Laser cut leather is made with a big and fast speed special laser cutting machine. You can’t find this machine in Hungary so I preduce this in Italy. No, we are not the only ones using this technology. Alexander McQueen,  Gareth Pugh, Gucci, Löewe and many more designer houses use the same place where I preduce our laser cut pieces,because there are the most professional machines and professionals.

What is the collection that you showed in London inspired by?

That’s inspired by the 21st century people’s sins, which can be found in the Bible too. These are lust, envy, gluttony, anger, pride, greed, sloth, waste, neglect, desire, power, irresponsibility and deception. These sins are found in gaphical motives then laser cut is made from them and a serigraph homogeneous surface is created. If you watch our laser cut pieces closer you’ll see hamburgers, fists, gambling icons that represent the sins.

Are you going to have a fashion show in Hungary in the near future?

I’m not planning to make a fashion show in Hungary, rather in America and Paris, but if I’ll have in Hungary, I’ll guarantee a seat in the first row for you!

What advice would you give to a young person who wants to become a designer?

I think this is a very hard and blood sweat profession, it needs a lot of patience and humility. Only start it, if you have a huge sense of mission and not regrets to long hours beside the sewing machines, papers and pencil!

Do you wear your dresses?

I am the very first person who tests the prototypes, it’s unequivocal that I wear them! I wake up and I go to sleep in my clothes!

Do you have other favorites?

This is a hard question, I’m rather a fan of art, not persons. But if I have to say something I would say Ali G, one of my favorites, he is insane just like me and I also really like Spongebob Squarepants!

In ‘Die Hard 5′ you designed Bruce Willis’ son’s leather jacket, is a collection for men in plan?

In the last few years, fashion spouted the androgyn aesthetics, on the shows we saw men dressed in women’s clothes and inversely. But now many designer houses sell unisex collection, which can be worn by men and women too. This is a new, fresh approach which tells that fashion is not about the gender inequality and the power struggles between genders but more about art and self expression. I’m planning to roll out a unisex collection too, maybe in 2015, but this is only the future’s song!

 What other plans do you have to the future?

My plan is to create an intelligent, bionical feeling leather jacket which would be lovable and our partner in the everydays. With this, my target is to combine a high-end-fashion luxury item with the latest technology, the mobile one, so with a mobile application you will be able to set your jacket’s temperature. With this app will show us that what kind of comfort zone are we in and the jacket’s electronical system can continuously control the clothing piece. In the morning the app will propose to warm up the jacket and in a bad weather it will preheat our jackets.
